Where to look / By state / province
By state or province
Hubs for agencies, foundations, and platforms — not every individual scholarship.
United States
- California
Start with the California Student Aid Commission (Cal Grants), then your county community foundation, school counseling list, and 1–2 national platforms.
- Texas
Use the state higher-ed coordinating resources, then local foundations and school lists before signing up for multiple aggregators.
- New York
HESC (TAP and related) is the state aid backbone. Pair it with local foundations and a low-friction national search site.
- Florida
OSFA / Bright Futures context first, then local foundations and carefully chosen aggregators.
- Pennsylvania
PHEAA / state aid orientation, then regional lists (e.g. campus and foundation portals) and national platforms.
- Ohio
Ohio Department of Higher Education financial aid pages, then county foundations and school lists.
Canada
- Ontario
OSAP first for provincial aid, then ScholarshipsCanada / yconic for outside awards, plus local community foundations.
- British Columbia
StudentAid BC for provincial aid, then national Canadian portals and local foundations (e.g. Vancouver Foundation).
- Alberta
Alberta Student Aid, then national CA aggregators and Calgary/region foundations.
- Québec
Aide financière aux études (AFE) is the provincial backbone. Search also for bourses d'études via foundations and Desjardins programs.
