Methodology

Universe equals every source with published status in the Where to Find Scholarships directory seed on the snapshot date (same 183 platforms as the Census). This index records signup and account friction observations, not overall quality scores.

Columns are filled only where evidence already exists in the seed (account_required, signup_friction, cost, or unambiguous editorial copy such as card description / catch). Missing observations are marked unknown or not observed. We do not invent phone, email, default marketing opt-in, or essay-gate facts. Listings are platforms or places to look, not individual awards. Listings are not endorsements.

Score publish remains held. This page has no overall score, dimension score, or rank columns. Observations are not scores.

Coverage honesty

Most friction fields are not yet observed. Unknowns are intentional and honest; they do not mean zero friction.
